Ballet
Ballet is a demanding and elegant form of
dance. Students are educated in the history of ballet as well
as the evolution of the art.

Pre-Ballet (Kindergarten +): This class is intended to enable
students as young dancers. Students will further develop their
basic locomotive skills, balance and coordination, and group
interaction, as well as acquire an appreciation for
rhythm, musicality, simple dance, and interpretive movement. The
Pre-Ballet curriculum allows students to continue through a classic
and structured ballet program.
Ballet classes are named for famous and influential
ballerinas.
Maria Tallchief (Ballet A)
1 hour, once a week: This is the first year of classical
ballet training when the elementary level syllabus is
introduced. The students will complete 15 minutes of light
floor exercises and passive stretching aimed at conditioning the
body. The next 25 minutes will be instruction at the ballet
barre. The last 20 minutes of class are dedicated to center
work which is used to teach spatial movement, spacing and
musicality and also includes preparation and practice for
performance dance.

Carla Fracci (Ballet B)
1 hour, once a week: This is often the
second year of classical ballet study but could also be for
third year dancers. Class begins with a 25 minute ballet barre
warm up in order to reinforce proper technique as well as
instruct more advanced movements. 5 to 10 minutes is dedicated
to floor stretching and body strengthening. The final 25
minutes of class will consist of center work to engage balance
and apply the barre technique to center stage. This will also
include preparation for performance dance.
Margot Fonteyn (Ballet I / II)
90 minutes, once/twice a week: This class
requires a minimum of 3 years prior ballet training as pre-pointe
and pointe will be introduced later in the year of study. In
order to be placed en pointe students must attend class twice a
week. The class will begin with a warm-up and stretch at the
barre to help improve overall flexibility through the body and
begin the process of mental preparedness for class. The 40 to
45 minutes of classically structured ballet barre work will
emphasis on demi-pointe combinations. The remainder of class is
spent reinforcing all technique at center stage. Once the class
has reached the level of pointe study the class routine will
shift slightly in order to add sufficient time in pointe shoes.
Ballet barre – 35 minutes, center work – 35 minutes, and pointe
work – 20 minutes.
*Students who are ready to
make a commitment to attend class twice a week and have the
technical, mental, and physical ability or readiness to succeed
at this level are placed in the class with teacher approval. 
Anna Pavlova (Teen Ballet I / II)
90 minutes, once/twice a week: Students
should have a basic understanding of ballet skills and knowledge
as pre-pointe and pointe work will be introduced later in the
year of study. In order to be placed en pointe students must
attend class twice a week.
A ballet barre warm-up is used to help the overall flexibility
throughout the body of the dancer and begins the process of

Ballet: Pointesettas (3 - 4 years
old)
Students are introduced to basic ballet and
jazz technique, musicality, rhythm, coordination, balance,
control, and group interaction. Throughout this class the
students will develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate
imagination and promote creativity. This class also provides
children with opportunities for noncompetitive, success-oriented
and creative experiences. Through movement, children learn about
their bodies, the space around them, and each other. Our dance
class activities encourage all children to participate. Both
boys and girls enjoy these classes. All children can benefit,
including children with communication, sensory, developmental or
physical challenges.

Ballet: Creative Movement (Pre-K)
Students are guided to use interpretive movement alongside various
styles of music. The class encourages students to develop a
sense of awareness for rhythm, cooperative learning, motor skills,
and taking directions. Through movement, children learn about
their bodies, the space around them, and each other. Students will be developing defined abilities
that will motivate and support the child’s desire to dance!

Ballroom &
Latin
Dance -
AdultThis class is a great way to learn various dance styles and feel
confident on any dance floor. This form of "social dance"
encourages social interaction between dance partners. A
variety of music styles and tempos are used in coordination with
each different dance style. Examples of classic ballroom
styles of dance are the Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, and Tango.
Latin dance style examples are Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, and Bachata.
All levels of experience are welcome to enjoy!
Classes are offered
in 4 week sessions. Singles and partners welcome. |
Birthday Parties
Come celebrate your next birthday with
On Pointe Dance Studio! Days, dates and times can be set up
with an On Pointe representative. You choose the perfect theme
and and we take care of the rest. On Pointe will supply the
decorations, snacks and drinks. Parents & Guardians are
welcome to supply food and cake with the help of the On Pointe staff
for additional charges. Children can pick from a variety of
dance styles such as hip hop, jazz, or ballet and select as many
games as they like! Popular theme ideas are Pretty Pretty
Princess, Tutus and Tiaras, My Favorite Sport, I Want To Be a Rock
Star, and Choose Your Musical. Please feel free to inquire

Hip
Hop ClassesHip hop is a high energy and upbeat style of dance. This class is
a combination of urban funk, street style, break dancing, and free form dancing.
Students will be introduced to a variety of rhythms and styles of
music that will assist in sequencing, improvisation skills, balance, and agility. Every
class will begin with a 15 minute warm up consisting of body
isolations, stretch, and hip hop oriented across the floors. 30
minutes of class is dedicated to various dance combinations, hip hop
basics, and choreography. The remaining 15 minutes is for
students to have performance time and a cool down stretch. Our focus…have fun!!

Jazz
ClassesJazz class is full of energy, expression, and rhythm. Students
will learn the history and evolution of jazz through the various
techniques of traditional or classical jazz, Broadway jazz, and
jazz funk. Students will have the opportunity to develop a sense
of individual expression and personal style. Emphasis will be
placed on posture, rhythm, synchronous movement, alternation of
sides, body lines, balance, flexibility, performance quality and
memory.
Every class will
begin with a 15 minute warm up consisting of body isolations,
stretch, and jazz oriented across the floors. 30 minutes of class is
dedicated to various dance combinations, jazz basics, and
choreography. The remaining 15 minutes is for students to have
performance time and a cool down stretch.

Modern
/ Contemporary Dance
This class will introduce a style of theatrical
dancing that is demanding in physicality and emotions. This expressive form of dance
incorporates concepts such as over curve/under curve and
contraction/release of the torso, and specific use of the spine. We
will break down each movement and provide students with exercises
that build strength, increase flexibility, and focus on proper alignment. This class will
provide a foundation in musicality and center work, that will be
valuable to any performer. Every class will begin with a 15 minute
warm up consisting of body isolations, an extensive stretch, and
contemporary oriented across the floors. 30 minutes of class is
dedicated to various dance combinations, the Graham technique and
modern basics, and choreography. The remaining 15 minutes is
for students to have performance time and a cool down stretch.

Dance with Me
Parents, grandparents, & guardians are welcome to bring toddlers to
experience group interaction, creative movement and basic motor
skills within a safe and playful, enjoyable environment.

Music Theatre & Dance Styles
Dance & Music Theatre is a
form of theatre training combining music, songs, spoken dialogue,
and dance. Students will be provided with the opportunity to learn
about various aspects of theatre and drama and to gain hands-on
experience in theatre performance. Acting skills, stage training,
directional guidance, memory skills and dance performance are all
areas of concentration in order for students to interpret and
develop their own stage presence. Student will also learn the
emotional content of the theatrical pieces such as humor, love,
anger, and sadness as well as be able to interpret the story itself
as communicated through the words, music, movement and technical
aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

Tap
Each class covers fundamentals of basic jazz tap techniques. The
theatrical style of dance is distinguished by percussive footwork
that marks rhythmic patterns on the floor and incorporates the
dancer's entire body. Tap develops rhythm, speed, agility, and
coordination. Every class will begin with a 15 minute warm up
consisting of body isolations, stretches conducive to the intense
footwork, and tap oriented across the floors. 30 minutes of class is
dedicated to various dance combinations, tap basics, and
choreography. The remaining 15 minutes is for students to have
performance time and a cool down stretch.
